We are keen to tie our research to real-world issues and challenges.
If you are an industrial organisation looking for innovative thinking
and practice in the face of such challenges there are several ways to
collaborate with Fluidity.
Affiliation with Fluidity
Becoming an Industrial Affiliate of Fluidity (IAF) is the easiest
means of collaboration and involves:
- Identifying issues and challenges relevant to both parties and
how they can be addressed in a non-disruptive manner.
- Signing a memorandum of understanding and confidentiality
agreement.
- Attending Fluidity research group and/or Doctoral supervision
meetings where appropriate.
Becoming an IAF is a minimal cost option. Our aim for the IAF scheme
is to encourage long-standing relationships that can mature using the
schemes below where appropriate.
Direct or Indirect Funded Opportunities
The forms of collaboration that involve direct or indirect funding of
some form are:
- Consulting assignments and in-house development programmes.
Key members of Fluidity have significant consulting experience
and/or have developed bespoke training programmes with organisations
such as Unisys, Xansa, Qinetiq, Shell and UIP International.
- Direct funding. We offer a project style collaboration facility
for industrial organisations who wish to outsource key research
issues, whether related to medium-term problem solving or long-term
'blue sky' research.
- Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP).
The KTP is a collaborative scheme to help companies improve their
competitiveness through the use of knowledge, technology and skills
available in Universities. The scheme is part funded by the
Government and further details can be found
here.
- Funded research networks and projects.
The UK Government and European Union fund a variety of project
collaboration mechanisms that are designed to bring industrial
organisations and academia together to solve problems and further
the state-of-the-art in given areas.
If you are interested in working with us, either via the
collaboration mechanisms above or others please contact us.
